This is one of the little cabinets that my husband made for me, I wanted to make something special for his cousin Shawna... (if this is Shawna, stop and don't look!). Each year she makes a piece of stitching for me and I try to make something original and equally beautiful for her. It is so hard because her stitching is stunning and perfect. You can see it here if you don't believe me...perfect I tell you! Her hands are so talented and she is so precise and sort of, well you know....picky, but it is so worth it, her work is like a piece of art!!!
So this year, I had The Dutchman build me some cabinets from some old windows that I had stored in the basement, he made three.....this is the first one. I wasn't sure what to put in it, then I thought of making her a doll, but she has several that I have made, so I decided to make a dress..... here it is, what do you think?

That is just beautiful, she will love it so much! I think the holidays, no matter how excited we are still have those tender moments when we miss those we love so much. I hope your health gets better and that you feel the love of the season. Theresa xoxo
That is beautiful! What wonderful treasures you make....... I am so sorry that you are tearful..... I so understand...seems the closer we get to Christmas the more I cry.. Seems that our hearts are a treasure house of memories........ Blessing to you my friend.......... have a beautiful Christmas...
Dear Mags:
Shawna is going to love her gift from you. You, my dear, are talented beyond words, and your stitches are as wonderful and creative as your imagination. I'm so sorry that you're a little weepy this time of year, but I would be too in your shoes. My mum called me yesterday to tell me that my stepdad had to go to the emergency room. He has to have a catheterization tomorrow, and my prayers are that he's back home with her for Christmas. When those we love are missing family or friends, it makes our "gift wish list" much less important, doesn't it? I'm shipping out packages to family tomorrow, and then will concentrate on the few "special" gifts I'll be sending to my friends, including you!
Love and comforting hugs, my friend.
xoxo

Ah I know what you mean, about Christmas time...I miss my parents a little extra too these days and while you always have a lot of extra work, less light, in my case some hormones drifting...you easily get emotional. Well I think of you when it starts driving me crazy and I know that I'm not the only one going through this. That always makes it easier, to share feelings, thank you for that! Take care!
C'est beau Margaret.

What a gorgeous dress - it is a beautiful gift!
Christmas is certainly a time for remembering. For myself, although I am sad about the ones that are gone, I am thankful there is a time when I do stop and think of them, memories rolling around my head, making me laugh and cry at the same time. A special time when I am already quiet, to let the thoughts of them flow through and envelope me in a warm, gentle hug. I hope someday it may be like that for you.
Amazing work from you and the Dutchman, what a treasure :)
Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season, feel better.
Love, Lynn
