Homemade Applesauce and Fougasse

Today I wanted to try something different, so I baked Fougasse, an usual shaped bread with  herbs and olives....... it was delicious!!!
Then because I couldn't find figs to make fig jam, I had to settle for homemade applesauce, that's okay because it was yummy!!!!! That's the wonderful thing about Fall, you want to savor the fruits of summer so our thoughts turn to preserving.

Mmm this looks so delicious! I love home made apple sauce, but when I was a child we used to asked my grandmother: applesauce? From a can? As we didn't like her applesauce filled with little pieces of the apple, yuk! Yes we were spoiled brats, and now I am ashamed of that! Enjoy!

Looks YUMMY! Photos are so pretty! Isn't it funny that Monica was talking about figs today too. I told her our French friends adore figs. Me, not so much. I think it's a texture thing. I finished my 3 LONG days of working so back to getting ready for my class that I teach Saturday. THEN, it's time for me to work on your goodies. HUGS!

Hello Margaret~ I'm finally back from my summer long blogcation!

I know that feeling you describe of wanting to preserve the fruits of summer. We've been frantically scooping up the blueberries and peaches from Farmers Market for either freezing or creating a confection.
My hubs has been picking Asian pears, huckleberries and the last of the raspberries, we should be enjoying the "fruits" of our labor all through the winter. I love the rustic look of your bread.
Mmmm, hot out of oven with the applesauce and a cuppa....devine

Please stop by, I look forward to the return of your company.
Sweet wishes,
Sara

The bread looks wonderful. Would you share the receipe? I haven't baked bread since my children left home. I used to get up in the wee hrs of the morning and make many, many loaves to feed all those hungry little mouths. Hmmm, homemade applesause sounds good, too. Thanks for sharing. Casey

I can just imagine the delicious smell in your home the day you baked and made sauce... yummmmm
Do you put anything in your apple sauce before putting it in the jars? I ask because we get soooooo many apples from my inlaws garden and I have never preserved anything before.
